A soundtrack can be music accompanying the images of a motion picture, book, television program or video game; a commercially released soundtrack album of music as featured in the soundtrack of a film or TV show; or the physical area of a film that contains the synchronised recorded sound.
In the soundtrack genre there are 3 types of recordings:
1. Musical film soundtracks which concentrate primarily on the songs.
2. Film scores which showcase the background music from non-musicals
3. Albums of pop songs (various artists) heard in whole part in the background of non musicals.
Access to a full orchestra means the sky is the limit when it comes to producing a score made up from strings, brass, percussion and woodwind families. Each family of instruments can be articulated in many ways to create a specific style or mood to establish an accurate vision. Although soundtracks are commonly orchestral based, (especially in film scores) any combination of digital and analogue sounds can be used from synthesisers to sound effects.
